Smeaton’s Bristol Dry Gin Label
An original handwritten recipe for Bristol Method Dry Gin from the 1870s has been recreated, bottled and launched as Smeaton’s, with identity, packaging design and strategy by Denomination. The creative concept stays true to the recipe that was discovered by the founders of the Bristol Archives on Smeaton Road and every detail links back to the story behind the brand.
Having worked with Denomination on projects before we understood how important it is to them that every detail is produced to the highest level. We found the perfect material for the blind embossing to give as much height and detail possible to the Bristol Dry Gin Label. For Smeaton’s it was important they could represent their small batch process so we were able to add consecutive numbering to the side of the label to reinforce the message.
Colour matching with different processes can be one of the most difficult things to achieve, not only did we face this but we also had different materials to contend with, with experienced ink technicians and the ability to produce the labels and outer sleeves we were able to produce a near perfect match which really brings together the product for maximum shelf impact.
“Multi-Color UK fully understand every detail is crucial in premium packaging and were as obsessive as we were to realise our vision. To be able to get the bottle labels and the paper wrap printed through one supplier not only gave us better control of the colour matching but eased the process and logistics for our client.”
